Does it get any better than a day out at the show? Sure does. Make it two days!

We were fortunate to meet up with Greta at the RM Williams Hut where the country comes to the city. The Australian made boots, buckles and belts were all laid out in that classic understated RM style. Alongside them the Clydesdale Country horses and stables where people of all ages were lined up to touch, stroke and smell these magnificent horses and marvel at their steady, confident, relaxed manner.  They are often used as foster mares for orphan foals and most vets have a special place in their hearts for these grand animals.

The pony rides as usual were hugely popular and judging by the starry-eyed wonder of all the children, will no doubt see parent planning riding lessons when they return home. The vaulting was another fantastic opportunity for horses and their riders to captivate and enthral the audience and their level of skill and fitness was inspirational.

Both the show jumping and polo events were world class and we are fortunate to have access top this level of equestrianism- they make it look so easy. It was slower but no less engaging in the show hunter pony, hacking and led classes. Standardbreds classes were lovely to watch with their popularity gaining momentum, handler attire and presentation made for great enjoyment.

The next day was spent with he cattle and dog exhibits, the woodchopping, the produce, the arts and crafts pavilion and the myriad of hands on activities which connect the country to the city.

Finally, our main reason for visiting the show was to spend time with our sponsored team, Tina and Amanda Williams, from Mollywood Park and to watch them compete. Tina and Amanda, from their Central Coast property, train race thoroughbreds and retrain them once they are retired, preparing them for other disciplines after the racetrack. This year Mollywood Park presented three off the track thoroughbreds along with a client’s riding pony Galloway. The owners of maiden horses are so patient as the enter the fanfare and ceremony of the show ring for the first time.

All of the team worked well and hard over what was a big week and it was a privilege to watch.

Til next year!
