Christmas comes early for Yarnah and Tiarne....

March 2017 update - Tiarne has just sent us a recent photo of Yarnah. She looks great!

Bringing science to your feed bin is what Jenquine is all about. Restoring health for horses is one of our greatest quests and in this blog we share a truly lovely story and celebrate a happy horse and her loving, caring owner.

Our heart’s were filled with joy to see this progress photo of a happy horse. Yarnah is a 9yr old mare that started to show changes in her face at the beginning of 2016. Over the next month as the signs continued to worsen, her concerned owner, Tiarne, consulted her vet. It was then that Yarnah was diagnosed with ‘Bighead”… Yarnah had been grazing the sub-tropical grass, Setaria, and the oxalates had caused a severe case of calcium deficiency. The swift action of Tiarne and her vet, was put Yarnah on to Bone Formula straight away. Once the skeleton had been ‘topped’ up sufficiently with Bone Formula chelated calcium, her face started to reduce in size.

Thrilled with the results, Tiarne wrote:

“Progress post... my darling little mare developed big head at the beginning of the year, within 1 month of noticing swelling I put her straight on Dr Jen Stewart’s Bone Formula, this is the progress. Her coat has improved dramatically, she's looking happier and generally very healthy. I'm very pleased with the results, considering the vet told me she may never look the same again…”

Laying down a lot can be a symptom of calcium deficiency as it takes pressure off the weakened skeleton, when we spoke to Tiarne this week, she had also noticed that this had reduced and that not only had her coat improved but her general demeanour was much happier.

Through the dedication of Tiarne and Bone Formula Forte, Yarnah, is now on her way to a brilliant recovery. Thankfully through this Tiarne has not only been able to assist her other horses that could have been in danger, but also been able to warn her friends in neighbouring properties who are on the same pasture.

We are extremely happy to finish the year on a great positive story!
